Background

 

Suzannah received her bachelor's degree in Drama/Psychology from Stanford University.  Her honors thesis involved writing and performing a play about women recovering from eating disorders.   She went on to earn her MA in Counseling Psychology/Expressive Arts Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies.   Her master's project studied the use of expressive arts in treating co-occurring eating disorders/addiction issues.  Suzannah has been a therapist for women, girls, and families recovering from eating disorders, substance abuse, and trauma since 2003.   She worked as primary therapist at the Center for Discovery's residential eating disorder program for adolescents in Menlo Park, and as primary counselor for the dual diagnosis program at the Women's Recovery Association.  She has also completed a school counseling internship, and has been working in a private practice setting since the beginning of 2006.  She currently runs a weekly therapy group at Casa Serena Eating Disorders Program in Concord, CA and leads media literacy workshops for About-Face, an organization aimed to help females understand media and its impact on self-esteem and body-image.  Suzannah is also a certified yoga instructor and loves incorporating body and breath awareness into a creative and strength-based therapy approach with recovering people.
